Here it is. The new Isokon Penguin Donkey, exclusively for Happy Readers.

This obliging creature holds up to ninety Pocket Penguin paperbacks in its two panniers, carries a number of issues of The Happy Reader in the middle and provides a convenient chair-side table for your tray of hors d’oeuvres, coffee cups, glass, ashtray, knitting or anything else you want to keep beside you. A limited edition of the celebrated Isokon Penguin Donkey Mark II, originally designed by the late Ernest Race, is a talking-point centrepiece for any room.

The Donkey is available in a number of colours, corresponding to the different colours of the Pocket Penguins series. The surface wipes clean with a touch. The horizontal shelves are horizontal because Penguins should lie flat. They keep better that way and you can read every title from your chair. The upright spaces? They take maps, hardbacks and whatever else might fit.

This limited-edition version of the Isokon Penguin Donkey II is being produced in colour batches of only ten, so no more than nine fellow readers around the world will have the same Donkey as you.
